Qualifications and requirements:

  • Fundamental to advanced knowledge of production methods, process capabilities, tooling processes, and good manufacturing processes.
  • Must be capable of preparing well-written reports, and presentations.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and related operations with; detailed knowledge of product design, engineering (design, certification, and M+P), tool design, fabrication and use, ergonomics and EHS, support equipment, and fabrication equipment, and use of a QMS.   
  • Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing principles preferred, continuation training will be supplied.
  • Strong knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and Operating Systems
  • Able to lead teams towards defined objectives, with on time execution to program objectives.
  • Able to work collaboratively with cross functional teams, and engage in healthy debate.

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Direct the coordination and supervision of company quality engineering function, including FAI, reverse engineering, layout and inspection activities of manufactured components for product qualification.  Facilitate the coordination with development Program Manager(s) to analyze inspection process and resolve issues prior to production.
  • Assess program needs and as appropriate hire, develop and provide leadership and direction to Quality Assurance with a focus on developing independent advocacy for product quality as well as effective execution and oversight of the Value Stream Execution Assurance Management (VSEAM) process.
  • Lead, coordinate and implement a systems engineering approach to Quality Assurance with emphasis on proactive Risk Management throughout the various program life-cycles across the client Business Units.
  • Work with Program Management, Engineering, Quality and Operations to implement new and proven processes for life-cycle risk identification/mitigation, Process Variation Management and Corrective/Preventive Action to reduce production disruptions, improve yield, and reduce non-conformances (NC) and Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ).
  • Develop plans/associated resource requirements and manage operating budget to support those needs.
  • Reviews effect of new product activity and development on existing quality systems.
  • Oversight of document control processes.  Evaluate and improve design, development, coordination and deployment of work instructions and procedures, in-process inspection plans, and associated process controls for Fabrication and Assembly product lines.
  • Incorporate lean manufacturing principles (training, 5S activity, Kaizen events).  Work cooperatively with other lean leaders in conjunction with overall companywide lean enterprise efforts.

 

 QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Bachelor Degree required, preferably in Engineering or Physical Science.  MS Degree is a plus.
  • Ten to fifteen years of overall manufacturing industry experience, with five to eight years of overall quality management experience.  Job progression should be from technical, design or process engineering into quality, and into a management role.
  • Experience with Commercial Airline Seats and of highly engineered aircraft interior products for aerospace applications is highly desired. 
  • Excellent written and verbal skills are mandatory.
  • Experience with and oriented toward metrics in business analysis.
  • Experience with SPC, data collection and analysis.
  • Experience with having obtained an ISO 9001 and AS9100 certification is desired.
  • Experience working with manufacturing based technology, processes and principles
  • Minimum five years in a Lean enterprise manufacturing  environment
  • Advanced composites manufacturing experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to multi-task, follow through and meet deadlines

The Program Manager II is responsible for contribution margin of the production phase. Must keep the program in scope or to properly negotiate time and money when the scope increases or to refuse the scope increase if it is not practical.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Program Manager II is fully responsible for implementing a product matching 100% to the one used for the cost base in the bid and to make him/her self knowledgeable of all elements of the bid including the cost base.
  • Clarify RFQ scope of work expected by the customer with sales people and/or customer.
  • Kick off new programs, establish expectations, identify pacing items.
  • Assign line resources to project teams as required to meet performance criteria
  • Must be fully accountable and properly present to management a good estimate to compete for the completion of the NRC phase of the program. In particular, after the expense on the program has reached 25% to 35% of the initial quote, sufficient knowledge of the program must have been gained for the program manager to be able to display the ultimate etc with an error margin of no more than plus or minus 15%.
  • Track, manage and report non-recurring expenses to operate within budget limits.
  • Track, manage and report recurring costs at standard to operate within the quotation parameters and achieve the bid contribution margins.
  • Develop a strategic use of customer request for changes to increase contribution
  • margins of the program, both for the non-recurring and recurring portions.
  • The Program Manager II is not accountable for the absolute amount of the non-recurring expenses and this for the following reasons: the initial NRC quote does not have the level of integrity we achieve in the recurring cost area; the cost is mostly in the hands of engineering and certification; tooling is normally a function of the quote and cannot be helped although it must be purchased well.
  • Must be fully accountable and properly present to management a good estimate

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or disciplined field related is required; four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certifications, License, Registrations: Must obtain a Green Belt Certification within first 12 months of employment at Zodiac, PMP Certification required. For current Zodiac employees, PMP certification is required within six (6) months.Education and/or Experience:
  • A master’s degree in business management or engineering is required; three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

1. Job Description

Our client Customer Support Director of Service Engineering is responsible for providing in-service technical support to customer airlines, leasing companies and authorized MROs for the servicing, repair, and continued safe operations of MRJ aircraft.  The Service Engineering team supporting the Fleet Management organization is the primary client interface to address all reliability and maintainability issues for the MRJ fleet.  Additionally the Director of Service Engineering has prime responsibility for the client 24x7 Operations Center which provides Customers and MROs with round the clock technical support to resolve AOGs and address performance deterioration which may impact operations as detected through Aircraft Health Monitoring.  Service Engineering will work closely with MITAC Design Engineering and Regulatory Authorities to resolve in-service issues and improve fleet performance through the coordination and authoring of Service Bulletins and 8110 Authorized Repairs.  Responsibilities include establishing deliverable commitments, establishing work priorities, creating the team and team structure, implementing work processes and process standards, implementing governance and communication processes, and the technical performance of the group.

 

2. Scope of Work

Processes

  • Implement the Service Request processes and tools required to receive technical questions from customers, and coordinate and approve a timely, quality response.  Create an archive of technical issues and responses.
  • Review every incoming technical request from each customer for its potential safety implication.  Any potential safety issue will be coordinated with the MRJ Fleet Chief who will initiate the Lead Airline Process if required.  The potential safety issue will be input into the 21-3 Continued Airworthiness Safety process.
  • Answer technical questions (e.g. “How does this system work?”, “We want to do [X], what will be the impact and is this acceptable?”, “Please confirm our understanding of the [X] document that the [part description] for our aircraft serial number [123] is part number [xyz]”).  Coordination with Design Engineering and Suppliers as necessary.
  • Provide “fix” or “replace” recommendations based on cost and flow time.
  • Provide structural repair instructions and regulatory approvals (i.e. JCAB, FAA, EASA) for the repair when appropriate (e.g., 8110-9).
  • Participate in the Fleet Improvement Process (FIP) as directed by the MRJ Fleet Chief to identify solutions to chronic reliability performance issues and develop solutions for permanent fixes in both delivered and future production aircraft.
  • Coordinate with client Design Engineering and client Suppliers as required to solve “in service problems”.
  • Coordinate with client Engineering and Suppliers on design changes necessary to retrofit delivered aircraft and improve future production aircraft based upon service experience or potential airworthiness issues identified during fleet operations.
  • With Design Engineering develop bill of material and work instruction content material for the accomplishment of Service Bulletins which is then provided to Service Bulletin technical writers for incorporation in forthcoming fleet Service Bulletins
  • Support the Continued Airworthiness Process, Safety Review Process (SRP) and Flight Safety Review Board.
  • Interact with Field Service and Operations Center (OPC) personnel to assist and address support issues or needs identified by either group.
  • Support AOG and Field Repair teams with on-site engineering support during aircraft recovery operations as requested by the field repair team.

The primary deliverables of Service Engineering include:

  • Completed Service Requests as entered in the MRJ Customer Portal in accordfance with established KPIs.
  • Repair instructions and regulatory approvals for repairs not covered by existing approved MRJ repair manuals (SRM).
  • Updates to the Fleet Improvement Team Digest based upon progress and status both Safety and Non-Safety SRP’s.
  • Service Bulletin work instruction content material.
  • Service Letters that provide important technical and maintenance information to the airlines.  Note, a Service Letter does not authorize an airline to modify an airplane (it is not a regulatory approved document. 
  • Skilled employees that will form the Service Engineering team, staff the Operations Center, and staff the Field Service team.

Job Requirements:

The Central Service Engineering functions will be performed primarily in Komaki and an Operations Center that is staffed and directly interfaces with Service Engineering will be staffed 24/7/365 to support operations worldwide.

 

3. Expected Education/Experience and Skills:

Potential candidates must meet the following minimum requirements.

  1. Qualified candidates must hold an engineering degree from an accredited Engineering School.
  2. Candidates must have worked in commercial aerospace for an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), and have 5 or more years in senior leadership positions providing Service Engineering functions to commercial airline customers.
  3. Candidates must have Regulatory (FAA/EASA/JCAB) coordination experience.
  4. Candidates must have skills and experience managing Suppliers.

Applicant should have relevant airline, Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in-service support experience.   • Develop and implement solutions to reliability driven dependability issues affecting the ongoing lifecycle management of a large aircraft in service.

  • Act as primary focal for activities of Reliability and Services Engineering staff at the discretion of the Project Lead Engineer and Engineering Management.

  • Review and highlight aircraft, engine/APU, and components performance and ensure preventive actions are set to improve performance and airworthiness.

  • Interface directly with customer regarding the concerns, issues, and solutions effecting specific aircraft fleets.

  • Produce technical analysis of reliability issues for which approval can be obtained to ensure compliance with all appropriate regulatory, customer, OEM operations and maintenance requirements.

  • Evaluate and implement SB’s; advise customer on impacts, scheduling, and associated costs.

  • Prepare reports for customer based on research on subjects such as (but not limited to): AD’s, reliability driven maintenance initiatives, & SB’s.

  • Generate, monitor, and drive to closure Engineering Service Requests (ESR’s).

  • Ensure and confirm that all applicable customer, OEM, regulatory, and maintenance

    requirements are met.

  • Monitor and approve engineering use of Customer, OEM, and other technical data to

    ensure compliance with all appropriate regulations and requirements.

  • Communicate engineering and technical recommendations and ideas clearly through

    technical writing and group presentations in a manner that can be received and interpreted by all levels of an organizational structure

Qualifications and requirements:

 

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering desired with a minimum of two (2) years relevant aerospace experience or 6 years of equivalent aircraft design experience required. 

  • Knowledge of Structural Repair Manuals (SRMs), Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMMs), Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPCs), SB’s, AD’s and other associated aircraft reference materials.

  • Knowledge of aircraft and powerplant systems, components, and design.

  • Knowledge of aircraft fleet obsolescence management and practices.

  • Knowledge of OEM customer / supplier secure business web interface tools (i.e.

2. Scope of Work

Processes:

  • Coordinate with client Design Engineering and client Suppliers to obtain technical information and content required to meet industry standards for document scope and content.

  • Review and accept Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM) produced by client Partners.
  • Author and publish Service Bulletins originating from the Airplane Change Process

Qualifications and requirements 

  • Two years experience in the airline industry, preferably in maintenance or maintenance activity, preferred.
  • Strong technical background or ability to read technical drawings a plus.
  • Strong data entry skills a requirement.
  • Purchasing, negotiation, and/or contract on the job experience.
  • Basic business skills, such as reconciliation, phone etiquette, and e-mail communication;
  •  Knowledge of databases and a working knowledge of Excel. 
  • A professional who is willing to negotiate to get the best deal for the company.  Must have the ability to say no.
