LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking Chief Inspectors with aircraft repair experience for an opportunity in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary duty of the Chief Inspector is the direct supervision of Quality Assurance personnel and to ensure all processes and procedures as described in the firm’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) accepted Repair Station/Quality Control Manual, FAA approved Training Program Manual, Operations Manual and ISO/AS 9110 certifications are fully complied with. Related documentation to support these activities are to be completed to meet applicable FAA and ISO/AS 9110 requirements.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Official representative to all Regulatory Agencies regarding maintenance, inspection practices and procedures to ensure the airworthiness of aircraft, alterations of aircraft and major modifications.
  2. Responsible for preliminary, hidden damage, in-process, and final inspection of all times processed by the repair station.
  3. Responsible for the proper tagging and identification of all parts.
  4. Maintains KACC in compliance with all requirements regarding the Repair Station and contract maintenance activities.
  5. Make recommendations to the President regarding the company’s capabilities to properly perform maintenance services within regulatory and contractual guidelines.
  6. Development of KACC maintenance / inspection policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements, including the preparation and updating of formal Inspection Procedures Manual(s) as required by various regulatory agencies.
  7. Overall responsibility to ensure that the KACC Quality Assurance functions are in compliance with the Inspection Procedures Manual.
  8. Maintain the calibration system for all required tools and equipment.
  9. Consults with legal advisors of KACC regarding sensitive regulatory matters.
  10. Counsels and advises all department management regarding regulatory requirements and interface philosophy pertaining to maintenance related requirements.
  11. Ensures that company maintenance and inspection training programs are effective and that proper records of training are being maintained per regulatory requirements.
  12. Responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Quality Assurance Department regarding the airworthiness of aircraft and inspection functions.
  13. Responsible for ensuring proper compliance with all Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Advisory Circulars, Supplemental Type Certificates, or Parts Manufacturing Approvals as applicable and that all documentation is completed and distributed in accordance with applicable Government Aviation Regulatory Requirements.
  14. Ensures that King Aerospace Commercial Corporation does not perform any work for which it is not rated.
  15. Establish and control aircraft ground handling licensing requirements and return to service authorizations.
  16. Make recommendations to the President regarding policy change requirements, staffing, training, and equipment necessary to perform required duties.
  17. Completed and forward Malfunction Defect Reports of all serious defects found during maintenance and inspection of aircraft which are applicable to this requirement within 72 hours of discovery in accordance with FAR 145.63 or other governmental regulations.
  18. Ensure all records of work are accounted for and complete with correct entries prior to releasing aircraft or components to service in accordance with KACC’s approved Inspection Procedures Manual.
  19. Issue KACC Quality Assurance Inspection Stamps to qualified personnel and maintains proper records of issuance.
  20. Ensure all required inspections have been accomplished in accordance with the Operator’s Approved Maintenance Program and regulatory requirements.
  21. Ensure proper documentation of all work performed by KACC is complete and filed with Customer Work Order and Governmental Aviation Regulatory Agencies as required.
  22. Coordinate Quality Assurance functions with other department managers to ensure that all operations are complying with company and regulatory requirements.
  23. Perform Facility audits to ensure proper techniques are being applied during production, safety issues are addressed, proper housekeeping is in effect, and that KACC maintains compliance with its approved Inspection Procedures Manual.
  24. Establish and manage the requirement of aircraft weight and balance activities.
  25. Responsible for obtaining proper certifications, testing and documentation to ensure that all materials received for installation on an aircraft meet applicable FAA regulations.
  26. Serve as a facility safety coordinator to prevent potentially hazardous situations from occurring.
  27. Responsible for locating, recruiting, and staffing quality and skilled
  28. Ensures inspection personnel to increase the depth and talent of the workforce and to meet company objectives.
  29. Ensure all inspections personnel are properly trained and authorized to perform their assigned duties.
  30. Duties may be delegated to an assistant; however, such delegations do not relieve the Chief Inspector of the overall responsibilities of these duties.
  31. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

TRAVEL:

  • Periodic travel required to King Aerospace domestic sites. (little to no travel involved)

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • The Chief Inspector reports to the General Manager and is responsible for ensuring that all work performed by Repair Station personnel meets all applicable FAA regulations and provides the highest levels of quality and safety.
  • The Chief Inspector is responsible for the overall operation of the Inspection Department and to the accountable manager for the Repair Station in respect to the regulatory requirements.
  • The Chief Inspector is also responsible for Repair Station quality issues, supplier / vendor oversight and training.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages subordinate supervisors in the Quality Assurance Department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree (B.A.), preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years aviation experience on different types of wide body aircraft
  • Five (5) or more years as a Chief Inspector or Quality Supervisor on projects involving heavy maintenance, modifications, and repairs.
  • Must be extremely familiar with all FAA rules and regulations.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to manage priorities to meet deadlines in a demanding environment. Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams of subject matter experts in achieving organizational objectives.
  • Ability to interpret diverse customer requirements and associated compliance.
  • Leadership style that ensures organizational ethical standards are maintained and fosters positive relationships.

 

LANGUAGE ABILITY:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations and the ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATH ABILITY:

Ability to apply concepts of basic math and algebra, fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Must interpret a variety of instructions furnished written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Word processing, Spreadsheets, internet software, e-mail, database software, inventory software, order processing software.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Current FAA Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) license and FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) required.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.  The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives; and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Regularly required to walk, sit, and talk or hear, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.  Must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.  Close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
