Smith International - Fayetteville, NC Contract To Hire 6 MonthsDiesel Technician # Needed = 2 MorePay: $24-$27Shift 1st M-F 8AM-5PM: Job DescriptionBrakesElectrical/Electronic SystemsHeating and Air ConditioningEngine PerformanceSuspension and SteeringEngine RepairAutomatic Transmission/Trans axleManual Drive Train and AxlesHeavy and Medium Duty Diesel EnginesResponsibilities of Top Level Diesel Technicians:Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems including: Electrical, steering, suspension, braking, air conditioning and transmission.Perform quality inspections of vehicle to identify necessary and recommended repairs.Test-drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipmentCommunicate directly with the service advisor so that customers can be informed if any additional service is needed. Providing an estimate of time needed for additional repairs.Execute repairs to proper specifications.Maintain a clean working environment.Qualifications of Diesel Technician:High degree of mechanical aptitude with a focus on efficiency.Effective oral & written communicationAbility to follow directionsComprehension of safety & policy practicesAbility to use a computerA customer first attitudeMust be able to lift up to 100 lbsMust be able to stand for extended periods of timeMust have full mobility, and be able to work with hands above head for extended periods of time.Great pay, awesome benefits and unlimited training opportunities make this a career that you do not want to miss!If you have experience working on diesel engines, this career is definitely for you.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to the individual's race, color, sex, national origin, religion, age, disability, genetic information, status as a military veteran or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.Job Requirements:* 3-5 yrs heavy truck maintenance experience  * Brake Inspection Certification eligible* In-depth knowledge of late diesel engines and on-board computers* Experience using oxygen/acetylene equipment (cutting, heating, bending, fabricating equipment during repair) as well as precision measurement instruments* Ability to safely operate vehicles equipped with manual and automatic transmission   * Ability to frequently lift components weighing approximately 65 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person* Basic computer skills* CDL Driver's license preferred, or the ability to obtain oneMust have own toolsMust have steel toe bootsNo background checkNo DMV check**CDL - if candidate has we will administer a DOT Drug Screen     No CDL - non DOT drug screen
