Procurement Project Manager

 

We are currently looking for a Procurement Project Manager for our facility in Franklin Park. We are a industry leading fabric display manufacturer and distributor. They will be working from 8AM to 5:30PM and be working hand in hand with the Director of Procurement to stock and making $80k to the low $100k a year. See below for Director's notes.

 

SUMMARY: The Procurement Project Manager is responsible for leading the strategic and operational procurement for the companies outsourced manufacturing supply base. This role will plan and execute the sourcing and procurement of all outsourced manufacturing components. This is an end-to-end supply chain management role that will evolve into a subject matter expert (SME) resource for internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a bias toward action and will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for outsourced manufacturing categories, including in-depth knowledge of market capabilities; economic, material and process cost drivers; supplier financials and market competition. • Benchmark supply alternatives to competitively position best cost solutions; build and maintain “should cost” financial models to appropriately manage costs. • In coordination with the Executive Director of Global Procurement, develop and deploy category strategies for the outsourced manufacturing categories represented in the companies supply chain; rationalize/optimize the supply base. • Lead supplier development and qualification, including supplier assessments, improvement plans, and qualification activities; conduct ongoing business reviews and ensure suppliers are performing to contracted obligations and expected service levels. • Assess supplier and product platform risks and develop appropriate contingency plans; identify program level risks and deploy mitigation plans whilst communicating and escalating with appropriate stakeholders. • Process purchase requisitions for outsourced manufacturing materials and services; communicate critical information to internal stakeholders. • Maintain accurate price records, ordering parameters and purchasing documents in the company’s ERP system; accurately and efficiently manage the purchase-to-pay (P2P) life cycle. • Develop a keen understanding of companiesinternal manufacturing capabilities and product offerings to aid the development of outsourced manufacturers capable of supporting companies when internal capacity is constrained. • Provide feedback to internal stakeholders to improve the companies product and services based on current and past job experiences. • Drive ‘quality at the source’ within the outsourced manufacturing supply base; when material or nonconformities exist, proactively drive root-cause identification and corrective action plans with suppliers. • Lead/administer Request for Information questionnaires, Proposals and Quotations (RFx); assist Estimating with accurate lead time and pricing information from the outsourced manufacturing supply base. • Work closely with Sales and Production to provide information necessary for change orders; ensure accurate jobcosting as part of the change order process. • Ensure all outsourced manufacturing relationships are governed by appropriate commercial terms & conditions or contracts that align with company’s short and long-term business objectives. • Using Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) techniques, work toward becoming a ‘customer of choice’ with strategic outsourced manufacturing suppliers.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Experience Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Manufacturing Technology, Supply Chain or Engineering • 3 – 5 years of direct materials procurement and sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment; preferably in a Make-to-Order (MTO) or Job Shop environment • Experience with ERP software; Microsoft Dynamics GP or NetSuite a plus • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP and other functions; Pivot Tables) • Strong arithmetic skills (e.g., Ratios, Percentages, Total landed Cost calculations) • Strong organizational, prioritization and time management skills; Strong communication skills both written and oral • Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness. • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities effectively while keeping pace with the needs of the business. • Bias for Action: Acts and communicates in ‘internet time’; makes timely and effective decisions; takes initiative without being prompted • Adapts and thrives in a demanding, dynamic, and fast-paced environment • Ability to calmly and professionally troubleshoot / problem-solve in high-pressure situations • Solid time management and analytical skills; Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills
