LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking NDI Level II UT Tech for an opportunity in Orange City, IA
Summary
This position performs non-destructive inspections.
Levels

Tasks
Perform inspections (UT / IRT), collect data, and create reports.
Active participation in company Zero Defects program – involvement in developing solutions to process issues that create scrap/MRB/rework.
Obtain specifications from complicated blueprints, research and experimental designs, engineering orders, etc. Participate in development of program specific NDT documents.
Assist Level 3 in development and implementation of processes and procedures for new or revised NDT methods.
May aid, guide or assist technicians in an advisory capacity in proper inspection methods and procedures and may check their work for accuracy and acceptability.
Required Qualifications
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work within spreadsheets, databases, and word documents.
Strong and collaborative relationships with management, peers and production team members.
Desire to learn.
Mechanical aptitude or background.
Good hand-eye coordination.
Good attention to detail.
Have the skills and knowledge to set up and standardize equipment, conduct tests, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results.
Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the NDT method.
Be capable of providing the necessary guidance and/or supervision to technicians and Level 1 personnel in the technique/method in which they are certified.
Be familiar with the codes, standards and other contractual documents that control the method used onsite.
Be capable of developing written instructions from approved general procedures. Such instructions will require final approval by the designated Level 3.
Preferred Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Associates degree in related field is a plus.
Experience
One to three years related work experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities in a manufacturing environment preferred. UT / IRT experience preferred. Experience in composites preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Must obtain the proper certification per company written practice.
Computer Skills
Ability to utilize computers and related technology efficiently.
Working Conditions
While performing typical duties of this job, production employees will experience the conditions noted below. PPE is provided to protect employees against physical harm or hazards in the workplace environment.
Usually work indoors. These sites may not be temperature-controlled.
Exposure to loud sounds and distracting noise levels.
Exposure to hazardous equipment.
Exposure to contaminants.
Shared workspaces with other employees.
Requires handing objects of up to 50 lbs.
Lifting pushing, pulling, and bending.
Standing and/or walking for 8 to 12 or more hours per day (varies based on role, shift and overtime).
Required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
Required PPE are provided based on the employee’s position and exposure. Below are typical PPE used on the production floor. Appropriate PPE must be worn by all employees when on the production floor.

NDT Trainee | Trains with automated and manual techniques including ultrasound and thermography to perform non-destructive tests to identify errors or defects in parts. Less than 400 OJT hours. Have not participated in 40-hour NDT classroom training. Works under direct supervision of an NDT Technician II. |
NDT Technician I | Uses automated and manual techniques including ultrasound and thermography to perform non-destructive tests to identify errors or defects in parts. At least 400 hours OJT hours. Has participated in (1) 40-hour classroom NDT training. Has passed all 3 NDT Level I exams with at least 80% passing score. Works under moderate supervision. |
NDT Technician II | Uses automated and manual techniques including ultrasound and thermography to perform non-destructive tests to identify errors or defects in parts. At least 800 hours OJT hours. Has participated in (2) 40-hour classroom NDT training. Has passed all 3 NDT Level II exams with at least 80% passing score. Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. |
NDT Technician III | Works and maintains the entire NDT department. At least 2 years of OJT. Has participated in (3) 40-hour classroom NDT training. Has passed all 5 NDT Level III exams with at least 80% passing score. Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Exempt position. |
