Rapid Response Diesel Technician
We are looking for highly experienced diesel technicians who are willing to travel to join Launch’s Rapid Response Team.
Our Rapid Response program is modeled after traveling contractor programs commonly used in industries such as aviation and oil & gas. The concept is simple: we recruit experienced technicians nationally and deploy them to customer locations where their skills are needed most.
In exchange for traveling, Rapid Response technicians receive a highly competitive hourly wage plus per diem to help cover expenses while working away from home.
As a member of the Rapid Response Team, you’ll be employed by Launch and assigned to support one of our customers in the student transportation industry. This organization operates 46 facilities supporting more than 120 school districts. At certain locations, they have a need for experienced, Level 1 diesel technicians who can step in and make an immediate impact.
Rather than limiting the search to technicians who happen to live near those facilities, Launch is recruiting nationally to identify top technicians who are interested in traveling, earning strong compensation, and taking on assignments where their experience is highly valued.
What You’ll Do:
- Maintain, repair, and overhaul school buses and fleet vehicles per FMCSA guidelines.
- Champion the adoption of cutting-edge EV maintenance practices and technology.
- Perform inspections, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance.
- Tune engines, align wheels, and maintain electrical systems to meet DOT standards.
- Replace worn parts, change filters, and perform oiling/greasing.
- Test drive vehicles post-repair to ensure safety and performance.
- Conduct minor bodywork and repainting as needed.
- Track parts usage, manage inventory, and order supplies.
- Report safety concerns and corrective actions.
- Mentor junior technicians and assist where needed
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 5+ years of experience in diesel engine repair and vehicle maintenance.
- Familiarity with FMCSA and DOT safety standards.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Leadership skills and willingness to train others.
- Technical certification or ASE preferred
